Synopsis.
The themes of XENA were centered around female passion/rage, liberation, duality of culture, freedom of choice, and resistance. It explores a woman’s life post-revolution, in a reality riddled by its past and on the brink of a new future. What does freedom actually mean? What is the psychological experience of someone who’s now on the other side? What is the aftermath of a city experiencing its phoenix moment? How can we challenge the link of past and future?
Its very rare yet also very difficult to capture such a truth: a place that deals with the aftermath of a huge tragedy. What does it mean to be in a country where such intense events have occurred & the bones of what has happened is still there? There is an immense bravery instinctually inside of them. These are the xenas.
